A How-To Guide when Betting on the NHL Playoffs

Quick and Easy 5 Step Process to bet on the NHL Playoffs

The NHL Playoffs are perhaps the most exciting playoffs in all of professional sports. Even people who don't follow hockey during the regular season seem to love the excitement that comes when the NHL enters playoff time.

The NHL Playoffs are great for betting, too. If you're new to betting on it, follow the steps below to get started on the right foot. If you're looking to bet on them, there are some NHL Playoffs betting tips to help you tilt those NHL odds and lines in your favour. We recommend you to check out our guide on how NHL betting works if you’re a beginner.

Tip #1 Choose a Legitimate Sportsbook

The first thing you have to do before you bet on the NHL Playoffs is choose a legitimate sportsbook where you will place your bets. You want to select a sportsbook that is real, not a scam and has your best interests in mind.

The easiest way to find a sportsbook that meets these requirements is to see whether it has a gambling license from a well-known and reputable regulatory agency. If the sportsbook has one of these licenses, they will display it prominently on the homepage of their website and mobile apps.

Having this type of gambling license ensures that the sportsbook is legitimate, and employs best-in-class security technology to keep players safe. You should avoid sportsbooks that don't have one of these gambling licenses at all costs.

Tip #2 Sign Up for a New Account

Once you have chosen the sportsbook that meets your requirements, it's time to sign up for a new account. The sign-up process may vary slightly from one sportsbook to the next, but the overall steps will be very similar.

After clicking on a button to sign up for a new account, you'll need to provide your basic personal information, including your full name, address and email address. Then, you'll have to set up a username and a password, which you'll use to log into your account on their website and mobile apps.

You may be required to upload a copy of your photo ID for verification purposes. This is done so the sportsbook can indeed verify that you are who you say you are. It's a layer of security that protects against fraud -- in other words, someone opening a sportsbook account in your name without you knowing.

Tip #3 Get Your Welcome Bonus

At this point in the process, it's time to qualify for a Welcome Bonus. These bonuses are used by sportsbooks to attract new players to their site, and it's a great way to get added money into your account when you first sign up.

The way that most Welcome Bonuses work is as a match bonus on your first deposit. They may match your initial deposit amount 100% up to a certain limit, say $400. So, for instance, if you deposit $400 into your account, the sportsbook will match that and give you another $400. If you deposit $600, your bonus will still be $400, since that is the maximum amount that the sportsbook is offering.

Other common components of a Welcome Bonus are a risk-free bet, in which the sportsbook will refund the amount of your first bet on the site if it loses; or a completely free bet, in which you will get a bet token worth a certain amount that you can then use to place a bet -- with no risk to you at all. Whatever the Welcome Bonus components, it's very important that you do everything you can to qualify for it. Find out whether the sportsbook you choose requires you to enter a promotion code to qualify, or whether you get it automatically.

Then, make sure to read through the terms and conditions to see what the wagering requirements are. You need to understand what goes in to not only qualifying for the bonus but being able to cash out the bonus when you win with it.

Tip #4 Transfer Funds

To actually get the Welcome Bonus, you'll need to deposit real money into your sportsbook account. You can do this a number of ways -- by a direct bank transfer, credit or debit card, or a third-party payment processor such as PayPal.

All you'll need to do is navigate to the sportsbook's cashier page and select your deposit method. Then, follow the simple instructions on the screen to connect your financial account to your sportsbook account, and your money will be available for you to use in short order.

Tip #5 Place Your Bets on the NHL Playoffs
Once the money has cleared into your sportsbook account, it's time to find the bets you want to make on the NHL Playoffs. You can find these on the NHL section of the site, which can be found through the navigation bar.

Simply find the bets you want to make and click on them. They'll be added automatically to your bet slip. Enter the amount you want to bet, and the bet slip will automatically update the potential payout based on the odds for that bet. Then, click submit and your bet will be accepted.
